Warwickshire Rugby Football Union
WELCOME TO THE LATEST WARWICKSHIRE RUGBY NEWS:-
Sad news coming out of Barkers Butts RFC - "sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Bill Gittings (Ex Barkers, Coventry & England) passed away earlier this morning (06/02/2019)".
I am sure there will be many tributes made to him over the next few days but my memories of him would be of his tremendous ability as a scrum half. He had a highly competitive attitude but always with a fair bit of mischief in him both on and off the field.
A very sad loss to the game,
May He Rest In Peace. Charlie McGinty.
The County Championship fixtures are:-
Sunday 03 February – Warwickshire 20’s v Leicestershire 20’s @ Broadstreet Rugby Club, 2.15pm kick-off.
Sunday 24 February – Warwickshire 20’s v Oxfordshire 20’s @ Broadstreet Rugby Club, 2.15pm kick-off.
Sunday 17 March – Buckinghamshire 20’s v Warwickshire 20’s @ Aylesbury Rugby Club, 2.00pm kick-off.
All spectators welcome
Susan Hart has asked me to inform Chris's colleagues about the funeral service.
It is at the North Chapel, Oakley Wood, near Warwick at 12 noon on Friday, February 8th. This will be one longer service now and not 2 separate services as some people may have heard.

It is with great regret that I have to inform you of the unexpected death of Chris Hart. (Warwickshire RFU, South Warwickshire and Kenilworth RFC). Chris gave so much of his time to Under Age rugby especially at the Under 18 level within Warwickshire and Midlands rugby and he will be a sad loss to all who knew him.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Sue and his son Nick at this very difficult time.
I will pass on details of funeral arrangements etc. when I receive them.
May He Rest In Peace, Charlie McGinty
MAKING TAX DIGITAL (MTD).
HMRC have released further information on the new Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT requirements. Rugby clubs that are VAT registered with taxable supplies above £85,000pa, will generally have to keep records digitally, and provide information to HMRC using specialised functional compatible software for VAT reporting. There are generally no exemptions if a rugby club is a CASC or a charity, so these clubs (if applicable) should check their current accounting and record keeping procedures regularly. This will ensure that they will be in compliance with the requirements of MTD for VAT which is due to come into force on 1st April 2019.
NATWEST RUGBYFORCE 2019.
Is back - see under Club Development. Application process available until March 2019.
WARWICKSHIRE COLTS CUP.
Entry forms for the 2018/19 Bob Coward Cup have been sent to clubs.
We have decided to make the draw earlier this season, to enable Clubs to have more flexibility in arranging fixture dates. Preliminary round matches [if more than 8 entrants] must be played by Saturday 2 February 2019.
QF matches to be played on 23 February [or Friday 22 February if both Clubs agree].
Competition regulations will be sent to all entrants in advance of the fixtures; they will be broadly identical to previous seasons.
FACEBOOK GROUP FOR ANY CANCELLED FIXTURES.
There is a closed Facebook group that clubs may wish to use to obtain fixtures if yours is cancelled.
The site is at https://m.facebook.com/groups/192039714684718?view=info.
However remember - you still need to advise the Referees Society of any changes.
